Known Once

Known Once is an immersive performance piece about time and memory based on personal stories and movement developed with young people ages 11-13 and seniors in their nineties. The piece envelops the dancers and the audience in a striking shared world.
After six years of creating performance installations inspired by literature, Known Once is the first project for LFD that draws on real life stories, movement, and experiences. In the fall of 2016, Liss Fain and the company dancers worked closely with youth and senior participants in a series of storytelling and movement workshops at 826 Valencia, a San Francisco organization that supports youth and literacy in young people, and The Redwoods, a mixed-income residential community for seniors in Mill Valley. Their movement and stories form the basis of the choreography and original musical score for Known Once.
