Experience the creativity and joy of Word for Word, now for the whole family!
Word for Word is expanding its unique approach to bringing literature to the stage with Word for WordPLAY, a new program for children and their parents. Using every word from beloved texts, our mission is to use theater and literature to open up a world of infinite creative possibilities. Through the power of play, self-expression, and imagination, we seek to strengthen the bonds of family and community.
Word for WordPLAY will launch in 2025 with a series of fun family events, that will include performances of stories alongside other creative activities like games, face-painting, juggling, puzzles, and more just all-around fun. (Shhh—Don't tell your kids, but they'll be learning too!)
In Early 2026, Word for WordPLAY will have its first full production, bringing the whole family the same great acting, costumes, sets, and sounds that you've learned to expect from Word for Word.

A Word for WordPLAY StoryTime Reading

Featuring:
The Whale and The Snail by Julia Donaldson &
The Eyes and The Impossible by David Eggers
Word for WordPLAY storytime readings feature the same imaginative and evocative performances of stories you've come to expect from Word for Word, geared toward helping children expand and illuminate their imagination. We aim to create a family friendly atmosphere where folks can experience the magic of literature and theater while bonding as a family. As with our grown-up Off the Page series, seeing which of these stories work best will help us choose which ones get the full production treatment!
