ka·nei·see | collective, Cat Call Choir, and Z Space co-present:

Nevertheless

March 7 - 10, 2019 at Z Space

Drawing inspiration from the feminist battle cry, “Nevertheless, she persisted,” Nevertheless surveys the field of gender-based harassment from the subtle to the violent, in a marriage of song and dance, comedy and horror. Nevertheless interweaves the companies of Cat Call Choir and ka·nei·see | collective in explorations of topics that will feel familiar to some and frightening to others, ranging from being told to smile to being followed home at night.

The first installment premiered in April 2018 in San Francisco, CA where it was met with sold out houses, an endorsement from Senator Elizabeth Warren, a multitude of press coverage and, most importantly, feedback that confirmed that Nevertheless is an instigation of empathy and catharsis. Join us for the second iteration of Nevertheless with developed material, an expanded cast of 25, and a pre-show art exhibition component.

PRE AND POST-SHOW ART GALLERY

As part of the Nevertheless experience, peruse a curated art gallery installation in the Z Space Lobby. Our goal is to bridge creative mediums and communities, and support local and out-of-town artists who are exploring gender discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence in their work. The gallery and Z Bar are open two hours prior to every performance time (6 pm for 8 pm showtimes and Noon for 2 pm showtimes) and is free and open to the public.

Nevertheless is made possible by the generous support of Zellerbach Family Foundation, CA$H Grant, FACT/SF, Z Space, and individual donors.
