House Work at Z Space
An exhibit of paintings & a run of red balloons by Anna Dal Pino
Household objects. Unexpected arrangements. Arrested action.
Using things found at home these are dramas in still life.
Oil paintings, a complete run of intaglio prints, and a construction of studio props.
Home is here at Project Artaud, an arts cooperative, so a firehose or magician's straightjacket is as likely a prop as a rubber glove or an ironing board. The limited edition intaglio prints, based on one of Anna's original drawings, were made by John Sullivan of Logos Graphics, also at Project Artaud.
A former dancer, Anna's past work in this space was on the stage. Now she is delighted to bring her painted dramas into the Z Space theater lobby.
A life embracing the cross-pollination of the arts, applied science, and place informs the work of Anna Dal Pino. Immersion in creative pursuit began early with classical ballet. Understanding physical science through dance, coupled with the practice of drawing, Anna added structural engineering as a path of inquiry and practice for over a decade. She paints full time now at Mariposa Studio, Project Artaud. Mariposa Studio is a studio, gallery, and performance space she co-directs with partner John LeFan. Visit them in February 2015 for Apparitions No.2, the next in a series of salon performances developing material for the future Apparitions at an Exhibition.
