SUSAN HARLOE (Artistic Director, Word For Word) Sue is Founder and Artistic Director, with JoAnne Winter, of Word for Word.  She probably got the idea for staging stories at her mother's knee, since her mother was a writer and wonderful storyteller.  Between then and now, Sue has become an ardent francophile, and loves bringing Word for Word to France every year to perform great short stories in great venues throughout the country.  Many, many people have helped along the way, in particular Word for Word's illustrious Charter Group.   She has produced Word for Word stories for the past...many...years.  Some of her favorite roles for Word for Word are Mary in "In the Garden of the North American Martyrs"  and The Bullet in "Bullet in the Brain, both by the unparalleled Tobias Wolff; Mrs. Roby in Edith Wharton's comedy of manners, "Xingu"; and Audrey Atkinson in Alice Munro's "Friend of  My Youth."

For the past 14 years, James has focused in producing, developing and designing the scenery for new works (over 40 world premieres) leading to important collaborative relationships most notably with: The Magic Theater, Rattlestick Theater (NYC), Southern Rep (NOLA) Campo Santo, Encore Theater and now The Z-Space. James, an award winning Set Designer and Producer and an Instructor of Technical Theater at SFUHS, is proud to be part of the Z-Space Team

LAURA BERGMAN (Development DIrector)Laura Bergman has served the non-profit sector for more than 20 years.  She started her career in politics, working on campaigns ranging from United States Senators to local council members. She earned a Masters in Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon, and spent four years in Prague, Czech Republic, where she created and received funding from the European Union for the first-ever Parliamentary internships in Eastern Europe.  Following that successful program launch, which still exists, Ms. Bergman directed an arts foundation for a Czech noble family, raising enough funds to open a 15-room world class art exhibition in a Renaissance castle, with then President Vaclav Havel presiding.  She also directed the renovation and opening of the family’s archival library containing 60,000 books, many dating back to the 11th century.  Since her return to the U.S., she has directed arts programs for the California Assembly for Local Arts Agencies, the Exploratorium’s Institute for Inquiry, and was the first executive director of the Z Space Studio, a theater non-profit, for five years.

CRISTOBAL MCKINNEY (Administrative Director) is a San Francisco native of mixed descent, who spent his early years in the Haight Ashbury District before moving into fog blankets on the southwest facing slopes of Twin Peaks. He spent four years stretching and filling his brain at UC Berkeley, where he Majored in Psychology and Minored in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies. Unfortunately, Cris suffers from obsessive-compulsive-literaria, taking to the pen like many do to the bottle. He struggles significantly with incessant bouts of imagination, impulsive creativity, turrets-esque strings of "why/why not's," and other low-income behaviors. The Murder of White Rabbit by Red Herring is a novella he is currently blog-publishing piece-meal at http://freestories.wordpress.com, and he prods/dissects dramaturgical bodies in his Bay Stage Theatre Blog at http://baystage.blogspot.com
